
The professional football Cascais SAD has a new brand and name. A new brand to reflect the past and the future.
We’re proud to announce a new name and brand for the professional football division of GDS Cascais (Grupo Dramático e Sportivo de Cascais). While the club’s historic name will remain for the other sports under the association — including rugby, futsal, volleyball, hockey, and acrobatic gymnastics — the professional football team will now compete as Club Sportivo de Cascais.
Along with this upgrade, we also introduce a new brand that reflects the past as well as the club’s ambitious future. With many strongholds in the community and a rich history, it wasn’t a decision made lightly. Change can be hard, but when coupled with ambition and a hunger for more, it becomes a lot easier to achieve. This is one of the new steps CSC Cascais is taking under ve2.ventures and Estrella Football Group management to become a financially healthy and competitive club.

The rebrand isn’t just a visual change; it's part of a bigger strategy. The name, the story—it all needs to reflect a bigger ambition than playing in Portugal's sixth division.
ve2ventures and Estrella Football Group are not just owners, we’re part of the club. The vision is to bring the club into 2025 without losing its soul, and we see branding as more than just colours and logos. It’s a way to express who we are and where we’re going.

Why the Rebrand and Name Change?
The club is at a turning point. New ownership, renewed ambition, and the growth of the sport in Portugal means this is the perfect time to sharpen our identity. 2025/2026 isn’t just another season. It’s the start of a new era.
The rebrand is here to reflect the new ambitions. We want to position the club as a standalone football brand, one that still celebrates the broader sporting culture of Cascais but has a clear identity of its own. The old name carried weight, but it also tied us to a broader historical framework that no longer reflected the team's direction.

Reflecting our values and history
The rebrand is grounded in our core values: Clarity, Sustainability, Ownership, and Glocal. We’ve carried forward the club's heritage (our green color, local pride, and community roots) while updating the identity to work for the modern game and a global audience. The name change strips away the outdated formality, putting Sportivo, our sporting heart, front and center.
“In our strategy for the club, we understood that, as part of the ongoing renewal and modernization, it was essential to create a new identity to mark a new cycle in CSC’s life,” says David Dwinger, CEO of ve2ventures. “From the very beginning, we expressed our desire to make the club a symbol of pride for Cascais, faithful to its history and with the ambition to become a reference at both national and international levels.”
A new name
From Grupo Dramatico e Sportivo de Cascais to Club Sportivo de Cascais is a shift toward clarity, simplicity, and modern recognition. It keeps our local pride front and center, makes our football focus crystal clear, and gives us a name that works in Portugal and also internationally.

We don't just want to change the name or image; we are investing in the club's innovation, with the aim of actively involving the Cascais community and building a sustainable and inspiring project that can go beyond Portugal,” adds James O'Neill , [Business Development Lead], ve2ventures.
Behind the Process
A rebrand can mean many things, so to make it clearer, we created an overview of the steps taken. Bernardo Fernandes and Francisco Fernandes from our creative agency partner, Colure Sports, led the rebrand.
Key steps include:
Design System – A unified visual language for all media, kits, and merchandise.
Kits Update – The home kit keeps the original dark green as a nod to our roots, while the updated crest points forward.
The Third Kit – The embodiment of The Green Light, symbolizing hope and resilience.
Naming Conversation – Placing “Cascais” at the heart of our identity and modernizing our sporting name.
Next Steps – Expanding presence in the community, building our digital platforms, and growing our global profile.
Club Sportivo de Cascais is an evolution that finally brings the word and the message 'Cascais' front and center.
Changing something as deeply rooted and traditional as a football club's name is a delicate matter. That’s why this process was carefully studied over several months, reviewed by people with recognised expertise, experience, and different levels of involvement in football and the region.
“We wanted to respect the club’s heritage, and that’s reflected in the fact that 'Sportivo' - part of the original name remains. Moreover, it's a word that reinforces the club’s legacy and brings an international feel, whilst "De Cascais" reinforces a sense of belonging to the region.” Said Bernardo Fernandes , Creative Director at Colure Sports.
Club Sportivo de Cascais is now positioned to guide the next generation of supporters, athletes, and community pride.
“We have the unique opportunity to build this project from the ground up, shaping it in the most impactful way. The journey will be long, but our goal is for everyone to enjoy the ride. Fans will feel truly connected to the club and proudly present at every step, while players and staff already benefit from world-class conditions to grow and succeed.
